Romagnola Cow Breed

Romagnola cow breed, characterizing the hills surrounding the Park, has an unmistakable light gray coat, almost white, and a strong build, with particularly developed muscles and long horns. This cow breed dates back to the 5th century AD and has been selected to be used as a working animal. Currently, it is mainly bred for the production of top-quality meat, certified with PGI label as "Vitellone bianco dell'Appennino Centrale" (White Baby Beef of the Central Apennines), guaranteeing the whole production cycle, from breeding to sale.

It is rough and resistant and is left grazing freely in the pastures of the Apennines for most of the year. Romagnola breed is considered the best conformed meat breed in the world. The meat has excellent nutritional features, a rosy color and, in particular, a fine veining making it unique.
